Why is this edition only available at Heathensguide.com?
Previous editions of The Heathen's Guide sold out through Amazon.com and retail outlets. As people hear about this new edition, many are going to Amazon.com and finding that they still only list the older, sold-out editions. Those looking in bookstore are also being disappointed, as only a very few select stores are carrying this title at the moment.Â
The reason for this is simple: Price.
In order to keep The Heathen's Guide to World Religions as accessible as possible Eris Publications has always striven to retail this title for less than $18.00 (US). Recently, surges in the costs of paper, printing, transport, and higher retail fees (usually 55%+ of the cover price) threatened to drive the price of The Heathen's Guide above our customer care threshold. Most publishers have reacted to these new costs by simply adjusting their prices accordingly, often doubling their retail price. Eris Publications has not.
To prevent these costs from becoming your costs, Eris Publications has undertaken the task of e-commerce enabling this site to so we can offer The Heathen's Guide at the best price possible. Like Amazon.com, our delivery and fulfillment is performed through Canada Post and the U.S. Postal Service, so reliability and delivery will be exactly the same as ever. The only thing that has changed is that we now ship directly from our own warehouse, which is why we are able to offer this title at this special, web-only price.
