All over the world, 2012 preppers are busy buying up leftover Y2K rations and getting ready for ‘the Big One’.
The apostle Paul once wrote, “It is better to marry than to burn in Hell.” (1 Cor 7:9).
Paul was obviously never married.
I seldom post videos, but I gotta say this one kills me. Must-see for atheists:
For every imam out there tonight defending Islam, there are thousands of Muslims who hear very different words from the Quran. The same is true within Christianity, Judaism, and every faith on the planet. The sectarian nature of religions leaves the door open for a culture (or individual) to interpret the Holy Books as they wish. Whether honor killings are a part of Islam or not is irrelevant. Like so many other murderous options, it’s the interpretation of the ‘Holy Word’ that’s important.
I’m used to the semi-weekly “You’re going to Hell” e-mail, as well as the regular belligerent “You have no idea what you’re talking about” comments. But this latest round seems to be trying to more discouraging than contrary.
It took me a while to figure out why religions hate extramarital sex. For the longest time I just figured they were a bunch of up-tight prudes that couldn’t get laid and thus didn’t want anyone else to get laid either. Granted, a lot of them these days do fit into that category, but I don’t think that’s how the whole thing started.
This whole thing gets even sillier when you know you’re saying it to someone who doesn’t practice your religion. It’s exactly the same as insisting that you should have to say ‘Happy Rosh Hashana’, ‘Merry Makar Sankranti’, and ‘Have a nifty Nisf Sha’ban’.
The Heathen’s Guide to World Religions has sold thousands of copies in dozens of countries, been translated into Italian, French, and Spanish, and I’ve received hundreds of fan letters from around the world.
For the atheist, no person is ‘unclean’ or ‘unworthy’. We’re all just people, each trying to make the best of our lives, and hopefully making the world a little bit better by the time we leave it. That doesn’t take a God… You just have to give a damn about the people around you… All of them.
Regardless of gender, I just don’t get why Fundamentalists care so much that people they’ve never met are having sex with other people they’ve never met. It just seems absurd
Catholics got upset about this Benetton ad, but I say the Muslims should be upset too. I mean, really… Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayyeb could do sooo much better than Pope Benny.
It’s going to go boom, and it’s gonna happen in our lifetime. The best we can hope for is a low-yield that doesn’t contaminate the ionosphere.
’ According to Bennet, the new crop of men just aren’t as good as their predecessors, and he blame what he calls a ‘decline in founding virtues: work, marriage, and religion.’ I couldn’t disagree more..
When you’re breeding a new army, you can’t have science offering a way out of the baby factories…
The concept of allowing people to believe as they wish has somehow morphed into an obligation to respect, condone, and facilitate any and all religious beliefs.
